Reception

There is no fireplace
in your room
so I cannot come up;
still, the borders of your smile
eclipse my ambivalence,
warn of belatedness.

I journey home
and slip into sleep
fix my gaze into nightspace,
linger half-awake,
remember your whispers
when we were seventeen.

A touch of melancholy, a bittersweet memory, an exceptional poem. Vince

Thank you for the nice comment. I'm not sure why I don't use punctuation...makes it feel like work to me (?) I love your piece...I loved being 17...
