2016-When rain came

Did you not feel the rain When it came in teardrops Heaven hid in- Sack-clouds of ash And heaved release Did you not see the roses Fiery, birthed of stamen- And pollen, Red fire life A posy of warmth and Laughter Did you not see the envy The hand that plucked One TWO three The rose bush left bereft Save for the rain Teardrops Did you not see him Plant the dead roses Deep, hoping for some birth, But only rain fell Did you not see The young roses Petals tinged black and gray Dressed in rain, Roses; fledgling sparks Of the bush, in black fire Did heaven not hope Of spring, rebirth When roses were planted deep And the clouds wept In gray
To all who lost dear ones this past year
