I don't hurt

I don't hurt, last time I checked I was steel
Cold distant hard and common
Oh poor miserable humans
Who don't know how to be steel
I don't hurt, I am steel
I can't cry over what I don't feel
My ancestors felled kings
And those who held lofty ideals
My tongue is hot, I spit hot lead
You forget I am steel, tensile strength
I don't hurt, I don't bleed, I don't weep
Poor miserable humans
I have been shaped by hell
Where I once was humble, dark
And grounded, you dug into my mould
The comfort of home
You dug me out and refined me
In the fire, where your tongues
Taunted me, you beat me
and moulded me into shape
I could have wept then over your abuse
But I choose silence
And now, I am steel
You hurt me into being
Too common, too steel
And now you use me
For your every day needs
You need me
I don't need you
I am steel
I don't hurt

Horrible invention when you think about it in this context. Whats left unsaid in this poem makes it the more remarkable and hard hitting. Enjoyed very muchly. : )

Strong and encouraging. A great picture of the horrors of today. There is so much abuse and pain in the world. I pray that Jesus will make every heart of steel, but also of silk that they may forgive their abusers like God saved us.
