A Passing Wave

Shall I ask the roses not to grow thorns,
Or the wind not to blow,
And the sea never to wave?

Shall I ask the mind not to think,
Or the soul not to sink,
And the heart never to crave?

Why do I keep fighting myself
My mind, soul, and heart
Trying to be brave?

And if I don’t keep walking,
Even without a weapon,
Myself would I save?

And if I ever had a weapon,
What or who shall it be,
That providence gave?

An aim toward the skies
Toward a point
Out of this cave,

For the road to heaven
Without love,
I would never pave…

Aiming to the skies
Out of this cave
Would take some time

And waiting for
What providence gives
Is somehow sublime

But what if I wait and wait
For what would save me
Denying the huge sign,

Messages from up above
Teaching what being brave
Is all about

If I go on denying
What they all crave
My heart would shout

And I just hope
All what is here
Is just a passing wave
