A Young Poet's Notebook
Words, expressions, vocabularies, and terms,
these are the things that a poet should learn.
Together with rhymes, meters, verses, and stanzas,
a poet will be able to dig up the bonanza.
Next are creativity, imagination, technique, and skill,
these will carry the young poet at the top of the hill.
Through experience, knowledge, practice, and comprehension,
he will rise above all with his great conception.
Various subjects, topics, issues, and themes,
a poet should know what all these mean.
Figurative languages, tone, imagery, and attitude,
he should know how to use them with great aptitude.
These are just concepts, ideas, thoughts, and notions,
what’s more important is the deeper perception;
and with his natural talent, skill, ability, and gift,
this young poet will be able to go ahead of the drift.
