A Mother's Clamor

Her voice unheard
by the children she bore,
she grew more desperate
each passing day.

Like ghosts within,
voices haunted her.
Echoes tormented
her fragile mind.
For weeks, she drowned
in paranoia…
From afar,
she vividly heard
the wails and mourns
of helpless souls.

"Are these voices
of my dear sons?
Oh, heavenly God
I hope not.
Please save my children
from the talons of greed.
In the warm solace
of my humble womb
how I wish they could be –
to spare them from anguish
and grief stricken pain."

Hence, in solitude,
the mother remained
totally unaware
of what lies ahead.
Though she may have lost
her angst ridden mind,
what still dwelled in her
was a mother’s heart.
