It started off with one green parrot
Who’d come down for a feed
From the trays I’d started leaving them
All heaped with healthy seed.
The next day there were two of them
And the flock it grew from there
And now, it seems, those lovely birds
They just be everywhere.
Their filled with lovely colours
And there vocals be a treat
Their voices have so many tones
From screech, to song so sweet.
But Lord these guys do fight a bit
And some that come for seed
They often end up fleeing
Before they’ve filled their needs
I try to coax some other breeds
Of birds to add some colour
They can’t get past these twenty Eights
They’ll get chased off for sure
Each time they see some other bird
They’ll kick up quite a scene
And yet these pretty coloured birds
Make my day seem so serene.
