Go Carefully

Go Carefully.

Go careful child, real careful now,
Be on your guard always.
You're young, so young, my little friend,
But heed these words I say.

Whilst young, one hardly thinks at all,
About what lies ahead.
You rush around and do your thing,
Immortal do you tread.

Life's blood be pounding in your veins,
With the world just here for you.
But tread with care, my wild young steer,
Take care in what you do.

For one day {and the years do fly}
When your hair has turned to grey.
The past comes pounding at your door,
And a voice cries "judgment day".

And as the guilt from days long gone,
Just drags you to the ground,
There's nothing you can say or do,
You can't turn things around.

So love your life and have great fun,
It be your dance my child.
Play your symphony with joy,
And let your mind roam wild.

But never hurt when you can heal,
And never hate, for love is real,
The circle it goes round and round.
You'll learn this someday, I'll be bound.

Tremendous words of wisdom. Great advice to so many, myself included. Had I known or learned this earlier in life things would be much different. Well done my friend!

You have a very valid point here Scott. Written in 96 I wasn't at my brightest then lol. Treat it like too large clothes that have to be grown into. You have a fantastic Christmas, my friend, and I hope 2014 is a beautiful year for you....Peter

Great advice. Don't they say that youth is wasted on the young? It has taken me many to get an inkling as to what they mean. May that not be the case for the youth who read this poem. Well done. And Merry Southern Christmas, mate.
