A true tom-boy, alone and unloved, her heart wept as she walked through life
Capable of giving so much love, but from all those around this was denied
He came and made her feel loved; but they were young and he soon went away
She had known pain but not like this; but a gift he left for 9 months later she met Aunjhane’
What is this feeling? There is none this strong that exist!
She had never loved this strong nor had eyes ever returned love like this
Peace and stability this little girl did bring
Always wanting mommy; making her feel like nothing less than a queen
Then he came back and she felt complete, but again his feelings did fade
Though she knew she had enough love she was scared to learn that soon they’d be joined by Jade
A truly precious stone she did prove to be
Making her mom and big sister laugh continually
Once again he did return and, though without the same joy, they made a home
Apparently the measures taken were a waste of time as soon after I’Lyeza made herself known
Giggly and goofy Peaches, as I’Lyeza’s called, is a tried and true daddy’s girl
The anti-mom, she loved ribbons and lace and “lived in a Barbie world!”
Now over 20 years since her first petal bloomed she looks at the young lady her Aunjhane’ has become
And she is proud but wonders where the time went; remembering when she no longer walked as one
From Aunjhane’ she learned what it felt like to love and truly be loved
Jade brought to her the gift of laughter with her beautiful humor and smile from above
I’Lyeza made her learn that daddies are just as important if they’re a good daddy
She also taught her that even a ribbons and lace little girl can grow into a smart, determined young lady
And “him?” Yes, she learned from him as well.
Through many times of anger and even years of emotional distance they did dwell
But as she looks past their daughters at him at the table this evening or watches him tonight as he sleeps
He taught her that a person can change; because of this lesson she has a family, because of this lesson it is with happiness she now weeps.
