CHRISTMAS MAGIC

Evergreen pine adorned like lace
Tassels of joy, warming an embrace
Streetlights in gold beam all around;
While snowflakes tap a Christmas sound.
Neighbors knock with pastries and wine
Mother sets table, eve divine!
Greetings of peace we all bestow
While angel on tree sheds her glow.

Kin huddles where a manger dwells
To lift dreams,” Praise Emmanuel”
A night of magic when choir-boys sing,
“Joyful thanks for Your christening.”
By midnight we open each small gift
Wonders excite , hearts are adrift;
Till pillows hush delighted eyes
Dad in red costume laughs, "Surprise!"

    Thank goodness for poets and poems like yours. They arouse in me the Christmas spirit, which I thought dead, judging by my reaction to the holiday's early commercialization, black Friday madness and cheap holiday trim everywhere.

    Did you mean choirs instead of choi? I think this piece is so pretty and could be a Chrismas Carol. A big Christmas hug to you.

    Such excitement & serenity in these lines!!!!!!!! You make me want to create a setting involving a fireplace w/a bucket of Hot Cocoa and music from Michael Jackson & Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas music playing in the background, while I wear some ugly Xmas sweater just because. =D Wonderful job!

    I like how you captured both the religious and earthy aspects of Christmas joy. What is going through the minds of children in this season brings a childlike regale all through this delightful poem. Magic for all seasons, queen of verse, Nette.Soup mail.

    Nette you put the glow in Christmas and the joy in people's hearts, I'd say I know how you do it but I don't, guess the little Pixie must have sprinkled fairy dust all over your face, stay beautiful my friend, and keep writing, I need your words to mull over, so I can have a smile on my face, Cuddle Huggles from Toronto to the Philippines, pick them up at the airport please, xxx
