The day that music died
Is the day that it was born
And the name we know so well
Grew from tributes that they mourned.
Liverpudlians with a dream
Beyond the Blackjacks grew,
The Quarrymen and Moondogs sang
With purpose now renewed.
So, in honor of Buddy
And his Crickets backup band
They changed their name to Beatles
And sang I Wanna Hold Your Hand.
The history of the rest is done
And lost within the years
Was Lennon's life and Harrison's,
Yet sounding through the tears
The music of a generation lives
And it will never die.
The echoes from The Cavern Club
Resound as years go by.
