Pain a terrible companion that our heart cannot live without! The irony my dear, F.J. Thomas, is that without pain there would not be any pleasure! It is only the existence of the one that allows the presence of the other! In pain the roots of the heart drill deeper into our being!

Of course you're right Demetrios, but for some the two do not balance each other out. I am glad to hear from you today!

I feel your pain although cannot comprehend the depth. I do know that soft words of nature create wonderful journeys in the mind that layer joy above the pain.

As I read the line... You plead to feel nothing, I was reminded of a line I remember from who knows where... "Such great tragedy - to feel everything when it hurts, then nothing when it passes" Perhaps "Numb" is a blessing? Love your piece

A very haunting view of emotional pain so bad that it can affect one physically, or vice versa. Thank you for sharing.

I believe that the Apostle Paul would be a great example unto this awareness be our enemy's existence; the flesh. Hang in there baby girl ~ Love, John

It is possible, but my opinion is "the thorn" in his side was somewhat different. I am happy to say that though those feelings were once something I could identify with my husband has removed it greatly :) Hopefully it will help others going through this know they're not alone; and this "companion" can pass. Thanks John
