Hello Drake: Would love to know the inspiration for this. To me horses always symbolize, freedom, beauty and escape . My best for 2014. Love, SuZ

Hi there! They should symbolize those things, you're absolutely right. But, in this writing's case, it didn't...at all. And an awesome 2014 to you too, SuZ!

I came here by mistake (forgetting i had seen it just last night) and for some reason, it made a lot more sense when I saw it this second time. The last line is awesome.

At times we have all taken a ride on a high horse. The horse typically finds a way to dismount the rider and in one way or the other the rider is brought back down to earth. I do think some people end up landing on their heads. Great metophor!

Certainly, yes! :) But, some refuse to get off of it. Which, essentially blinds them and hurts others. Thank you so much, Richard.

This write speaks volumes my friend! This poem reminds me of what happened to the apostle Paul from in the Bible! Is that what you were referring to? I believe I've seen a painting exactly about your piece, where Paul was on a horse and blinded! But I think your poem was written a little more symbolically rather than literally! A fabulous write this is, what a glorious piece, Great Work!!

Eszes Avatar Drake Eszes Date: 10/25/2013 10:20:00 AM Block poet from commenting on your poetry

Hey Russell! Hm, that's a good point about Paul. I hadn't thought about that, to be honest. But, again, you do raise a good point. That said, yes, this was a bit more symbolic than literal. It is more about the attitudes of some. Thank you so much for coming by here! =D
