The Fall

The sky’s a brilliant shade of blue, the sun is shining bright
The trees, it seems, are covered up in gold dust in the light
On a sunny fall morning, leaves are floating through the air
All twirling and falling free, as if without a care
It’s as if they’re all just searching, chasing after a dream
Looking for a place to land where all the grass is green

One little leaf is holding on to what is most familiar
The wind, it keeps enticing her, but it just can’t persuade her
Is she trembling because of dread … the fear of what might come?
Or is she hoping that she might be rescued by someone
Could she be keeping some deep secret no one else has known
And if she speaks her fears out loud, her cover might be blown

She’s been smiling on the outside to hide what’s in her heart
Cuz she wants no one to know that she might just fall apart
She’s having trouble holding on, she’s swaying to and fro
She needs someone to see the wind shake her when it blows
One day she’ll become brave enough to let go, after all
Just needs someone to see her first, to catch her when she falls

Enjoyed your beautiful poem Becca....depicted autumn nicely and original...I could visualize that last little leaf...PS...when you pour the glob of pretzels and chocolate out...use two forks to pull them out into a single layer to dry them break apart.....works great...

The faith in ourselves, that is emanating by our faith in HIM, is the force that will defy gravity and let us float to our destiny's call! Excellent poem, dear Becca a fine metaphor that deserves a 7!

Wow, wonderful write Becca. Now you got me wondering where that leaf is going to end up. I've often looked at the last few leaves on trees as I've passed an watched for next time to see how long they can hold on, yes, I know, I'm sad lol. Take care, Richard

oh my gosh, you do that too????? I'm so glad someone else notices those last leaves haha... today I was looking at the trees, they are not losing a whole lot of leaves just yet, but still I made up this story about them, I feel rather silly now lol but it was fun :)

Ow that little leaf..She deserves the soft light lavender hue of velvet petals to carpet the soil when It (she)falls..So sentimental this is..A brave leaf she is with the most inner and outer beauty
