Writer's Block

You will find parchments
Rejected by authored conundrums
Wind skating under sun-kissed flashes
At barren intersections

Cabins made of dementia coated oak
Fiberglass windows
Aluminum antennas
All covered by Mother Nature’s frozen tears

While monotony’s smoke signal
Hand paints lunar rhythms
Across blank sheet music

Residential conductors
Shackled under down comforters’ revenge
Arguments with hair follicles
Pulling
Sanity from scalp

You will hear no parties
On the hour of downfall’s solstice

Rusted batteries on clock tower
Rendering fingernails’ passage of time
Insignificant

Seconds
Minutes
Nowhere to turn
Numbness upon “cliques”

Until,
A sentence is formed.

Celebrated gasps of incipient layered ascension

Jovial apparitions
Place “For Rent” sign on their withered cabin

Awaiting new applications

On Writer’s Block

One more thing: to me there is no such thing as writers block. Just the mind wanting a rest...so give it one.

I agree, and that was the core message of this writing anyway. I, myself, thought I was about to have that block. But, I twisted it and this came about. :) Thanks again, Elysabeth!

'Celebration of insipient layered...' my all time favorite line. It's true. And your alliteration is incredible. Just got back from vacationland...whew!

My talented friend... Let me say that I value occasional writer's block.... It infers that what is blocked has value. .... WOW, there is comfort in negativity..... Regards... Jake

I so identify with pulling sanity from my scalp...it hurts like h_ _ _ _ but sometimes just the feeling of pain distracts me enough to find that first word. We all suffer from this "cabin fever".... it really sucks..... the harder I try....the worse it gets. I have to let the fever run it's course...close my mind to what makes sense and start typing until something jells. Sometimes it does......sometimes it is just a sticky mess. You are in jolly good company !!

Writer's block is a painful thing for us poets. Especially when the poetry is all that we've got. I know this for a fact, because I have gone through this before. Poetry is one of my best friends. And, when inspiration is absent, it is like my best friend has died. Yet, it is the greatest feeling when the poetry does come back to us! Terrific writing, Drake, I could feel your pain deeply.

love the way you use "You will". I have to say that you are in a leauge of your own. I have had to handle writers block myself. but their is no comparison. you have your style and i have mine. But i do see you as a famous poet. that means that your work will be remembered for your style and the way you write. a uniqueness that few possess that you have mastered. bravo to you sir bravo.

Well, I never OFFICIALLY said I had it. lol I almost did, hence the trigger to this piece. I began to get stuck. Then, imagined myself in a town of others. Then, the rest is history. =) But, your suggestion on a collab is something I'd like to consider. I'll be in touch. ;-) Thank you so much for coming by though, Rose! =D

Just caught this one, I'll read some more of you later.. Ta ta! :) Cindy
