Sugar Cane

We all want to be moved
why don't we dance?

the nasal, new resonates

bass and guitar hum
the sound of
electric blue and indigo
surrounds us

and echoes over campus,
bounces off of the
stained glass of the main hall

stalky sugar cane
rolling around on plastic plates

the music sounds familiar, comforting,
although most of us will never really know
the words
