All in the Family

Do you dread October's spell?
It only comes but once a year
but this small family, lives in fear
that they, alone, have tales to tell

While pumpkins, lanterns, and cornstalk vases
grace their porch with happy faces,
there are some so creepy, leaving traces
of the gruesome, and the lore!

While mommy hands out the gum and sweets,
a mummy's cell phone gets a tweet
He becomes unraveled in the shadows
from the gauze that trips his feet!......

Ghouls in shadows want to play
With boys who wear a grim display
Does he stand a ghost of chance
to take her to the midnight dance?

The cat has groomed her black coat sleek
to hop up upon the fence to sneak
a peek into the living room
where Dad weaves magic like a goon
Embarrassing his family clan

They toss his magic in the can
A wart-nosed witch gets on her broom
but pre-teen feet can't fly or zoom
until she cleans her messy room

The bed room's cleaned with spit and shine
While brother dares to take his time
He plans to fill his sister's bag
With tasty toads and wormy molds

No need to dread the harvest moon
All Hallow's Eve is coming soon!

lol. I smiled all the way through reading your poem, Carrie. I'm a sucker for rhyme and you do it well. Toads are tasty? Ugh. Lovely poem, my friend. Good luck in the contest with this gem. Licia :-)
