september nights

darkness sneaks in
through moonlit-creased skies
and scribbles on these lonely walls,
it's not night that propositions me,
it's memories (and you)
coming from within long, lonely nights
that echo with doors slamming shut
on the command of a seasoned wind.

as another night arrives,
i tuck myself in as the moon does
beneath her feathered-clouds,
my breath is as moist as night's air
as i drift off to sleep.

i awake to the rise and fall
of winded breath, howling
just outside my window

night's shadows seduce me,
pressing me harder and harder
atop this tangled web of sheets,
that hold me tighter than thoughts
yet my mind is naked, more so than i
as i rush towards the peak
of this moment, this night
that can't end all too soon.

i listen to the stroke
of clock's hands
as they rape me of emotion
i hear the bells toll
and revisit that moment again

i mourn beneath night's veil
hours before i arise
with morning alone...

Great use of symbols and imagery. I could hear the doors slam and feel the shadow. --Alex Roth

Excellent esp. the "i listen to the stroke of clock's hands as they rape me of emotion" bit. I can feel the panic+urgency+paranoia in it.

I always find your words so moving. You describe sadness with such beauty it almost makes it alluring.

A very powerful write.. very sad, and must hurt so much.. but the words here are so beautiful, and the longing in it so raw, this is a very beautiful poem indeed!

You have such a beautiful way with words, Sandy. (or do you prefer to be called Sandra? I never asked you). YOu should be Sandy and we can be Sandy and Andie. hahaha. I am a September baby. I know you are Libra. Is sept. your month? Or October? I think this poem also describes very well the later autumn months.

Happy Birthday in advance! Usually I am late with birthdays so I don't want to take any chances missing your big day. Oops sorry Andrea I missed yours. I am a September baby as well.

thank you Andrea (or is it Andie?) I do prefer Sandy, are you a libra baby too? I am October, and yeah it does fit the later months, but, this day is the birthday of my first love, who passed away at too young and age! Thank you for your sweet comments...love and hugs Sandy!
