If I See Your Face

If I see your face when I'm daydreaming in the late afternoon
Sometimes seeing you when I gaze at the silvery moon

If I awaken late at night and call your name and cry for you
Sometimes feeling your presence when all alone and blue

If I am in a crowded place I look for you in every face
Needing to know somehow that you are in a better place

If I sometimes talk aloud and say things you should hear
Even though you’re gone I pretend you are still near

If I never love another and you live inside my heart
I will survive this sorrow and know we’ll never part

If I do all these crazy things that one might think absurd
Then you have never been alone waiting to be heard
