The Quiet Heart Sings

I enjoy the quiet of the morning
As the silence of the night turns to day
Birds softly serenade me with singing

This is the time when it is best to pray
Before busyness of life takes over
As the silence of the night turns into day

I imagine hills covered with clover
Walking beside a stream with my King
Before busyness of life takes over

This part of my day helps my heart to sing
Knowing this will be my reality
Walking beside a stream with my King

The world seem filled with such insanity
My hope is in the peace he promises
Knowing this will be my reality

We are called to be faithful witnesses
My hope is in the peace he promises
I enjoy the quiet of the morning
Birds softly serenade me with singing

This is another time I read a poem with a strong religous theme and I like it. It doesn't happen often, but I enjoy the setting, and understand meditation is always best in waning hours. Thank you so much for all of you wonderful comments. Sorry it has taken me this long to get back around, truly you are one of my very favorite poets here. Great work.

How the heck are ya, Richard? This poem is expertly written...beautiful, actually. People around here call my mother a prayer warrior.(She spends several hours every day in prayer) I truly believe her prayers over the years have kept our family safe and together. This poem makes me think of her.

I am great Caleb. Your mom sounds wonderful. I'm glad her prayers have kept you under God's protection. You can never under estimate the power of a moms love. I'm pleased my poem reminded you of her.

Simply beautiful-- I could feel immediate serenity as you transformed a quiet night slowly into a peaceful dawn. Quiet time expressed in both senses of the Word.

"Walking beside a stream with my King"...awesome. There's nothing like a walk by the water to remind us that we can, figuratively, walk ON water if we just stay true to ourselves and not be another sheep in the herd, but an eagle in the sky.

Only God has the power to rescue us lost sheep and provide us with wings and allow us to be transformed into eagles. Thanks for this thoughtful comment Drake.

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. (Isaiah 50: 4) A beautiful testament to your faith and to the personal relationship Jesus can have with each one of us should we choose to give Him the best of our time, affections, and thoughts. This terzanelle sings...as do all of the rest, Richard. No possibility to overdose. Blessings...
