When Life Is New

O when I, new in existence awake,
Was awed by what to me surrounds,
The world in it it's make,
The clouds  the air and sounds,

It was wonderful to know,
Wonderful too to touch,
The stone the greens and fell the blow,
Of wind that whoosh so much,

Ah! life when it's new,
With the gaiety how it sparkles,
A mirror reflecting no darkness,
Seemingly free as windfalls,
                                   
Who am I for life to fathom?
There's a veil in infancy,
That I may see but not life's gloom,
Neither hints of falsity,
