We had it all figured out.
Said we would
Breed a Taylor Gang of our own
Stand on the back porch of our home
Wrinkled hands molded together
at the palms
Smiling with toothless smiles
Proudly in love like love
was a revolution we were grateful
to live to witness.
Our grandchildren would ask about
the story on how we fell in love
And I’d tell them
Your love defied gravity.
When I looked into your eyes
no magnetic force was attractive enough
to pull me away from your gaze.
The friction we created when we touched
enough to light the whole world
for years to come
without ever flickering
burning out, or dying.
the sun tip-toed past the horizon.
Somehow our light didn’t burn as bright
as I expected it to.
