To his disbelief and surprise
a priest, on opening his eyes,
found himself before the pearly gate
and gulped: Surely, it's a mistake!
Behind the door a voice spoke thus:
Are you worthy to enter in among us?
Stammering he said: Yes, I believe I am.
Sir, you lie just as you did when a man.
So I lied. In fact every priestly vow –
chastity, poverty, obedience – those in particular
I violated. But since I've come this far
why would you expect me to change now?
