Something to Remember

Swallow to follow, to find Tomorrow-
We look to Love to seek our Sorrow
And, lo! My Soul hath become so hollow
(In my own worry I wearily wallow)
I live to die, grow old and wither
And slip away like snake to slither
No thoughts are present, nor gathered hither-
I drain in Rain to the depths of the River

This is a really well written poem, had to notice your name before I realised why you used "lo" and "hath" can't deny the beauty of archaism. Really enjoyed this poem as well, you don't waste a single word here, used as few as possible but with just as big a meaning, a skill I wish I could match. Kinda interesting also though because ages ago I once wrote a poem where I said "I live to die" except I meant it in a very different meaning, makes me think I should upload it... Great poem though

Many thanks for stopping by a leaving a reply, Aiden; your glowing review means so much to me. I have been heavily influenced by all the classic poets, especially Shelley and Poe, so I'm happy you appreciate the archaic quality. And I am all about brevity; personally, I prefer that a poem be no more than 16 lines, but naturally there are exceptions.

I am a fan of your poetry too. Descriptive and always with a hint of sadness.

I appreciate that, Allan. I have many reoccurring themes in my work, and probably chief among them, a tremendous melancholy sentiment. Thank you for stopping by, my friend :)
