Fifteen tiny Swallows

Fifteen tiny swallows

Fifteen tiny swallows
All perched upon a fence
Oh what handsome fellows
But here, let me commence
To speak of all their beauty
These tiny little birds
All black and cream with a reddish throat
Oh how my heart they stirred

A lady walking with her dog
Disturbed these little guys
So from the fence these birds take wing
And head towards the skies
It seems that they are dancing
In the way they fly around
They always seem to fly in circles
And nearly touch the ground.

I walk around these wetlands
And wonder at it all
Everyday it’s something else
And it’s all so beautiful
Ducks and swallows, parrots too
And the beauty of the lake
I love to walk there most of all
At the coming of the daybreak.

Hey, these may be the same birds that used to come around to MY house and I could not figure out what they were until I looked online and found some similar to what you describe. I think barn swallow is what i ended up with as the closest bird to what I had seen in my yard. They made a nest above our garage. But they did not return this year, sadly. I so enjoyed this. I just love the birds by my house!

Thank you for giving me the name of these birds, I love birds but I have not a lot od knowledge, I think they have come here from Africa to get our warm weather. A lot of humans do this too Lol, thanks for your comments Andrea....Peter

Thank you Ilene. These swallows have just arrived from the Northern Hemisphere, and they seen to love the wetlands too. Perth still has a lot of it's natural bush and wetland spaces. I love your comments....Peter
