Journey of the quill
And there was this night of heavy rain
That swamped me outside the louvred door
rain that doused the early night to merge in
and closed out the doors of cognition
except for sounds seemingly low or loud
produced just for and about nothing.
For those who weren’t fellow travelers:
dark , cool or why- should- anyone- care
quintessential pricks for quixotic heads
No one knew it when it went away
it was gone- for- good for long until birds
sang sermons and the sun turned a priest ,
from the other side of slats of faith,
there were the mundane compacts of days
and the day’s punctuated homilies,
by nights heaped like municipal waste
counting for nothing in a journey
dotted for good measure with blarney.
