life of pie

Within great moments of leisure
Pie is a measure of treasure
Just have a small slice
Of that sugar and spice
And swallow bites of sheer pleasure

Authors note: The crust must be made from scratch. When the flour coated bits of fat are the size of peas--stop mixing!

The best crust were made either with butter or lard..A no, no today..My mother and father lived to be 96..Daddy would have been 97 in two weeks and mother in a month..Mother's sister lived to be 98 plus three months and they all ate those harmful food items. Now today we get ground up bugs to color our food and beaver's anal gland to substitue for real vanilla, cherry, rasberry and strawberry.Enjoyed reading your creative work and sharing your chef's knowledge with us.Thanks for your visits .Sara

I'm on a diet but these words fill me up nicely. Why didn't you put the authors note in the poem? that would make the pie bigger! Bigger is better, usually.
