The quarters rolled into the slot
again and again
until my once laden pockets were empty
and my obsession was temporarily satiated
at the cost of an hours work
when two bits was worth
a bit more.
Pac-Man and Space Invaders and Asteroids stood
where Pong once ruled,
but then we played in a dark corner
faces lit with the images,
muscles tensed with the audio reverb -
hidden out of view
ignoring no one but the room.
But now lit faces are everywhere,
Angry Birds and Words With Friends
and they are free
but are they really -
at the cost of ignoring everyone
