Aftermath

“Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you're not.”-Margaret Thatcher

I pluck heavy Pinocchio strings
Against acoustical caverns

Humming to a different path

As I
Watch cackling sheep place fallacy’s confidence
Over the hill
Stubborn refusal to see the sun

They blame.

They blame.

They BLAME
Clouded decisions
On shattered hopes & biblical verses

Yet, where are reflection's prayer for tomorrow?!

Another diabolical halo
Bent
On counter productive wisdom

Addiction to heavenly epiphanies
But, WHERE is their accountability!?

Their world became louder than love
Yet, they knew not how to speak

Another amnesia dialect
Sippin’ on shot glasses of gray matter
Slammin’ cowardice wrists
Upon shallow oak sadness

Drunken stupors
White collar finger streak on Holy Grail

They chose, poorly.*

As I
Pluck saddened Pinocchio strings

Witnessing convoluted Diabetics, sugar coating heartbeats
Into injected pins & needles
Living in melancholy haystacks

Oh, how deep I
Bow my head for the misinterpreted f(r)iend
Watching them hold rusty compass within their palms

Refusing to tune their direction

…

Had to read a few times, but I think I got it, Revelation strong within your words, Catholicism, I no longer judge, I walked away at a very young age, lost in my own wilderness, until truth and love found me, love one another as you love and treat others as you want to be treated, I believe this to be Jesus only commandment,, I am kicking myself not knowing the movie, I know I should, great write, hope I am on line and not off track on your poem, blessings sueellen

Yes, you pretty much nailed it, Sue-Ellen. The ultimate message here is "Do unto others", as they say. I, too, walk my own path (Agnostic) when it comes to religion. The movie, Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade, is what it is. A very vital & extremely entertaining movie. :) Thanks so much!

    Another nicely written poem. My mom taught me to treat people the way "you" want to be treated. To me Pinocchio means,,,, people lie to your face all the while pretending to be your friend ;}

Hey Drake...I love the entire piece but especially counter productive wisdom....what a powerful statement..you are quite a leader young man, judging from the conversations going on here...I think you should run for president or at least congress!

I've come for a re-read D, some of this goes over my head, but I picture a herd of sheep grazing in the field, and I see Jesus leading ahead holding a staff, and suddenly the fields are golden, and the sheep eat the sun, oops! Have a good day D xxx

Another awesome write, Drake! To think that I'd miss this had I not swung by tonight!....I'm far frome being an intellectual or clever, but I believe that loving God and our neighbors just as we love ourselves could rewrite man's history; not one of us is perfect...a sin is a sin, no matter the gravity. Love ya, my poet friend! Annalise

Okay, seriously? This is my absolute favourite of yours so far. (I feel like I say that every time, but it's always true! You keep getting better and better!) I was raised Catholic, but I consider myself Agnostic, so this poem resonates with me like you wouldn't believe. I LOVE your mind!!

HAHAHAH! Ok, I've read your last 3 comments and I've laughed so hard on each one. WHAT UP WITH THAT? lol I, too, am more of an Agnostic mentality, while I was raised Cathoilic and went to Catholic school. So, you being in that same boat with me: WIN! =D Heather, you're awesome!

I'm reading again.........and it is more clear with every reading.. Powerfully true.....and I too, can relate to the accountability....or seeing ourselves without blinders. Not everyone can see past their own ego.
