What is it about the countryside

What is it about the countryside?

What is it about the countryside
That gets into my soul?
What is it about the velvet grass?
That makes me feel so whole?
What is it in this silent air
That mesmerizes me?
Why do I love the countryside?
I wonder what this be.

I feel in it a silent whisper
That wakens up my soul
Maybe fate did give to me
This mystic kind of role
That sees what others do not see
For most don’t seem to see
This mystery in the country side
That has such pull for me.

When I’m in the countryside
I know that there’s a power
Some force so big, so huge, so vast
A kind of mighty flower
That blooms into this universe
And set’s one’s soul afire
To let this shell be buried here
Would be my one desire.
