The Classics

These pericopes, these ligures of thought,
Laid down upon pages centuries ago.
Quills and reservoirs of ink, their implements.
Skill and reservoirs of inspiration, their gift.
To bequeath the unbelievable, the mystical,
The mysterious, the romantic;
A quadrivial potpourri of brilliance
That bring imagination to life.

    I really enjoyed this and I LOVED the third and forth lines, the internal rhyme, repetition, the comparisons ... BRILLIANT! :-) Hope you're enjoying the summer... still packing but refuse to lose the summer and ensuring Verity enjoys the pool (at the current address) before we move (no pool there.) I'm tired and numb-skulled at the moment, so if you have told me something I've forgotten, please forgive me :-) Do you still sail? I keep thinking of you on the water... hugs, Cyndi

    I agree........there is something from works of old, that seem to have more staying power.....to linger long beyond time itself. This is rather a dedication to those who handed down these enduring and magical gifts to us and to future generations! (We could only dream of leaving our own legacy). I'm dreaming.....but with your help, I thank you kindly for the honor of placing in your "talk to oneself" contest. You inspire me to keep trying! Thank you, Craig! :)

    It's all a "Dream within a Dream" :) Lovely write, Craig...I appreciate the way your poetry has a dreamy quality about it...light and wispy and bright. BTW...I wanted to join your contest, but the last part from the grave got me. My belief system is that death is the end...No eternal spirit. Dust to dust..the breath of life goes to God who gave it....SLEEP..no consciousness till Jesus comes. So, I didn't join because I just couldn't get my head around that bit...Nevertheless, a great idea for a contest.... :) The new one? Too hard for me. I know iambic pentameter, but the form is hard....Oh well...next time! :)

    "Classical" :) seriously though, it reminds one of the essence of true art at it's birth. Enjoyed this one Craig.
