Day One

Day one - our first breath,
our first cloudy stare;
a mind so new in a strange world;
a mind confused and afraid.
We know not yet
what confused and afraid mean,
but we know how it feels.
Then, to a mother's breast
we find peace.

Last day - our last breath,
our last cloudy stare;
a mind so old in a strange world;
a mind confused and afraid.
We've forgotten
what confused and afraid mean,
but we know how it feels.
Then, to a child's breast
we find peace...

    Great poem.. good chance of a winning place in competition. How many competitions do you enter? I find some of them quite specific and far too complicated. I was shocked getting places for 2 of the ones I did enter, as I took chances with the requirements !! Anyway... where do you find the time to write? Good question for us all I guess. I think my next poem title is going to be "Obsessive Compulsive Poet"

    This gave me chills......the reality of it is too true, but accepting the cycle and nature's circle of life, is the answer to finding peace of mind. Excellent use of this contest theme! Well done, Craig!
