One Day

one day the wind blew strong and fierce
well into the night
puffing with all its might
challenging you
no roses grow in my garden
only dead heads and broken twigs
coldness will break your heart
fill your mind with sadness
even though you try to overcome
the deep heartache in your soul
the flowers no longer color my garden
as the sun sips the dust dry with a thirsty ache

finally the wind left and I wept
refreshing my soul
giving new life to my garden
with blooming beauty and wonderful smells
as humble buds unheeded rise
with hope that never dies
birds start singing a sweet melody
awakening the flowers
shedding perfume
bringing new life to the garden entrusted to me
bold colors reach for the sun and give pleasure
when there was none
memory of rich splendor is stored inside my head
as aromas of surprise overcome my senses
bringing a sudden ripening in front of my eyes

my garden is my life
nourished by the sun and enriched by the bold flowers
emerging down my garden path
washing away yesterday’s regret
