Birds in the sun's warmth bask
In some heated shadow bed
Warbling through the greeny mask
In gladness my ears are fed.
As if in some enchanted dream
They sun my fears in melody
Awakening my soul,my life redeem
From lonesome days of tragedy.
They flutter so swiftly pass
Straight through the rusty gate
Riding the wind's warm blast
When visions I contemplate.
My heart swelled with gentle fever
With every emotion as soft as down
As proud a mother weans forever
Her younglings above the ground.
And when the day is finally rest
Yes the roving moon burns
A sweet comfort upon their nest
Until morning light returns.
