She cheered the air with a laughter
All the world is her doll so fair
In vacant fields her feet does saunter
She's a blossom away from despair.
When roses would hum in the soft breeze
And the bees would dance in the dews
She would greet the lonely weeping trees
That grace her with its summer hues.
Her smile glowed young as the dimpled grass
Her hair hanged light on the scented air
When fulgent the streams would giggle pass
And the doves would hymn a sweet prayer.
Her voice lingered in the breeze for a while
When the sun placed the flickers in her eyes
Yet no worthless charms could ever defile
Her sacred heart warm, devoid of all lies.
