Recalled to LIFE

His heart ached as he looked at her
Her eyes had no sparkle
She walked ignorant of the fact
That her footsteps rocked his world
That she exuded sexuality
She walked unaware of the magnetism
Of her form
The sheer beauty of her hair as it caught the sunlight
She had been robbed of so much
He knew
He knew only too well
That she had been crushed
That she had hidden away
The passion that was once a flame inside her
He knew why
But he also knew her too well to believe
That the fire had gone out
He knew…
The embers must still be glowing

It killed him to know
What that beast had done to her
He had made her believe the lies
Made her feel undesirable
He had robbed her of her femininity
Locked her up in a prison of domesticity
Satisfying his own needs
His own way
And leaving her
An empty shell

If only he had rescued her when he could
If only he had been the man that she had needed
This wouldn’t have happened
But he’d heard that she was free again
Well, abandoned
The brute had run off with another woman
And had left her
To fend for herself
He wanted so much to able to
Recall her to life!

An “accidental” encounter
At the local supermarket
Products scattered everywhere
Was she aware
Of his beating heart?
“Thanks,” she mumbled
And then the intake of breath
As she recognized him
And brushed back her hair
He couldn’t help it
It was impossible
To keep desire hidden from his eyes
She must have seen
For color came to her washed out cheeks
And that nervous twitch to her eye
That he found endearing.
“Ah…thanks, again..”
Barely a whisper
The blank expression back
And she turned away
And he was left
Wanting in the isle

The “accidents” grew in frequency
Finally….after months
Of being there for her
Of showing care to her
She was there
In his bed
Looking at him
Unable to mask the
The unertainty in her eyes
But in his, no disguise
This was the moment
To recall her to life

Patiently, gently, …and with superhuman constraint
He put his needs aside
As he made her feel needed
Beautiful, loved
Gently caressing, whispering, kissing, touching
As though this was her first time

He saw her slowly start to melt
Into his kisses
Her body start to warm
To his caresses
Her eyes start to reflect
The flames of his desire
He whispered every dream he’d ever had
Of this moment into her ears
As his hands claimed her
Quickened breaths
Flushed cheeks
Delirious sighs
And then….
The transformation complete
He looked at the beautiful woman
Who commanded passion
Love to distraction
Vitality and life
Exuding from her body
Her voice beginning him
To not hold back anymore
But to take her body and soul
Finally letting go…

And then in the afterglow
She looked into his eyes
And smiled that brilliant smile
Of a woman well satisifed
And she whispered
“Thank you….
Thank you for bringing me back to life.”

Oh wow! "Romantic Fool" you have done it again with this one. The descriptive lines "Her eyes start to reflect the flames of his desire" could not be a more perfect illustration of passion. Kim

Quite a good write. I'm glad to see you are writing longer submissions. They don't get the attention they deserve.

Another great novel from you Eileen, if they carry on getting longer I won't have time to read any others lol. Quite often that first one turns out not to be the one and Mr/Miss Right comes along later. We learn from experience. Take care, Richard
