Verses for Vivian

She hides a jar of dread
Underneath the bed
With other bottled pains

Until her feelings rust,
Collecting tears and dust
And cobwebs of old shame.

But when the night arrives,
She's just a name on a stone,
And a box of cold bones
That yearn to be alive.

She hides another lover
Under satin covers
To wallow in warm lies

Until she can forget
The folds of deep regret
That drape her weary guise.

But when the night arrives,
She's just a name on a stone,
And a box of cold bones
That yearn to be alive.

Yes, when the night arrives,
She yearns to be alive.

Fantastic Write! I like your rhymes and form, and everything else about it. It flows so natural like. Butter, cream, oil; anything ya like. Keep this up!

Pure cryptic delight... the twist and turns make it difficult to discern if Vivian is in the ground under the tombstone or if she is alive ....you have written such brilliant metaphor that I will be scratching my head over the possibilities.. Poetic masterpiece !

Good grief, this is certainly kicked up from just a rhyme poem---with the repeated lines it almost approaches a terzanelle or villanelle but I like it better because the repeated lines come more when they're opportune than forced. Perhaps we could call it an Oberelle?? But....thinking...is this about a soul that's dead that wishes to live again or a soul that's alive that's "dead"? Whatever it is this is special! Fav---but please tell?

I agree with Becca...strange, dark, and intriguing....great verse...hmmm...this needs music to it...dark and melodious music. I can almost hear it.
