Monsters sometimes find a way of getting out
Even when you thought they were locked away
Someone must of found the key you threw out
What do you do when it's one of you
Standing, watching blood dripping in hand
Where it came from I could not tell you ~ never tell
I should never tell ~ no, not against one of us

Though I watch the monsters dancing off the wall
Look , their voices scatter across the room
Colored pills of many spilled onto the floor
I hear sirens screaming, coming closer still

Should I stand here ~ wait to let them in

Should I run to hide myself from within
No, I couldn't let it happen, no, not again
I hear them knocking on my door
        ~ POLICE ~ ~

I can really relate to the first verse of this poem. I have those "monsters" locked inside of me, and somehow they do get out occasionally! They tend to show themselves in my poetry, which I find helps to quiet them down for awhile. Great work on this poem, Debbie, I liked it very much!...Thank you for the kind comments!

This work I liked very much, the metaphors and the twists as the piece progresses, a little dark but then again I like dark. Good work, Thumbs Up!

This was very disturbing and made me think of a lunatic that sees hallucinations. You worded it in such a way to make me feel the anxiety of the psycho... a glimpse of his inner thoughts. And that one last word was like reality sinking in... great work!

This sounds like personal demons. Multiple personalities battling with each other to gain control of a single soul and willing to do whatever it takes to win or lose. Suns rise and suns set. Moons wax and wane. Yet platitude escapes the mind of one who is not sane. And the sirens signify the end to another beginning of a vicious cycle until the ones soul is released into another plane. At least that's what I got from this poem. Thanks for sharing and making me think. Rockman

Debbie, mind twisted in many directions... A monster a creature dancing off the wall. well I hope this horror is fiction, and the monsters in this poem, get arrested for slipping out of the box... somethings should not be reveled. It might show the true form of one... enjoyed~ Linda
