Happiness

In a big, weathered armchair
and a cocoon of faded quilts
beside a fireplace that glows
as it crackles and sparks.
With the weight of a book
propped against toasty knees
as steam rises like dawn,
releasing cardamom.
Where the evening breeze carries
the scent of lilac and the chant
of crooning crickets
through open windows,
and ideas bloom like roses,
floating like half-lit fireflies.
This is where happiness lives.

You left out the smell of jasmine tea while watching the outside become white with snow :) Written with an eye for comfort and a heart for tender wording... great job on this one!

It's a sensory thing, cozy feelings, wonderful aromas and a physical touch of a real book. This is definitely where happiness lives. I love this Heather. Wonderfully done. Warm Smiles, Connie

Happiness is where we happy are! Beautiful set up! It calmed me down! I liked it a lot! As far as your poem "Philosopher" is concerned is a masterpiece, especially if one sees it from inside the cave! I really congratulate you once more! You must be involved with philosophy to have such an understanding! Thank you!
