GOOD INTENTIONS

GOOD INTENTIONS

It seemed to make perfect sense at the time
eating what was forbidden seemed fitting and right
she stood convinced, perhaps she misunderstood
surely He would tolerate enjoyment- her delight
the bounty of His creation—a festival of fruit

Our mind games of temptations
never seem evil amidst justifications

A deep dishonesty lies beneath
telling ourselves, subconsciously lying—it’s for the best
surely sincerity of heart makes us upright and moral
dangerous illusions—a treacherous residence to dwell
our intentions are useless when we disobey precariously

Our mind games of temptations
never seem evil amidst justifications

A sizzler, for sure. I can but admire your eloquence, home girl. Well done, my friend. Licia :-)

Wow, so true Kim! It's easy to make things feel not so bad by our own justifications... when in reality that's just us "inventing excuses" and "twisting the truth". Our intentions are useless when we disobey precariously << what wisdom in that line. The bold and brutal truth... I like it!

In the moment, everyone believes that what they're doing is "just"; yet obviously people do things which are not "just". Great poem, I really enjoyed it.

Deep as hell. This has affected all of us in some way, shape, or form. Strong message here.
