The sound of crickets
Is embraced by the strong wind
Carrying their tune
Among the grass blades.
What do they talk about?
I wonder if crickets share their misery…
Or spread joyfulness?
Do they murmur about how unfulfilling their lives are…
Or how peaceful and free
Maybe a little of both.
Do they have dreams and aspirations…
Or are they content with the stagnant flow of their reality?
Is it stagnant at all?
Maybe each day is filled with an exciting adventure
That takes them to new internal heights.
And maybe some days they yearn to be crushed
By an enormous stump
Wrapped in a black leather boot.
Their chirps will never tell.
Providing a comforting hum
That soothes those
Who take the time to listen.
A sound like no other
That promises warm summer nights
And crackling fires
Shared by friends and family.
If they only knew
Of their powerful voice
Regardless of intent,
In a world full
