A Light In The Darkness

This darkness overwhelmes me yet a glow it lights my path
a fire burns inside me to defrost the winters wrath

This weight I bear suppresses hope and brings me to my knees
Yet someone here has heard my moans and calms my raging seas

Time and time again I fall, so wearily I tread
But then appears an outstretched hand, and nothing more is said

she lifted me beyond the precipice of laden fears
embraced me in her tenderness and wiped away my tears

This lonliness that fills the space where joy did once reside
Is lessened by a friendly soul, with whom I can confide

Heavens light sent from above, a stepping stone of hope
Placed along this winding road to help this blind man cope

This is lovely, Bernard. I'm glad I read it. I'm also glad you've found someone to help you deal with your sorrow. We all need someone to lean on. I'd like to share a verse with you....Ecclesiastes 4: 9 and 10: Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. I'm glad you have someone to pick you up! :)

This poem has a sense of healing taking place, I am glad to see it. Thank you so much for opening your heart to me about the grief, and the difficult experience of losing the love of your life 11 months ago. I am so sorry to know of this loss.same age as when my mother passed, who also died of cancer My poem spoke of watching my daughter, in the loss of her husband this past November..they were much too young for such an unexpected thing to happen.and now our young grandson longs for his dad.
