Jesus Made A Promise
I, a thief, was nailed to the cross beside this man,
He was known as the Jesus throughout the land.
He committed no crime to deserve this pain,
Yet this young carpenter was brutally slain.
The other thief hanging on His right side,
Hurled insults at Jesus until the hour he died.
“Don’t you fear God?” I said to the thief,
He glared at Jesus and me in disbelief.
“When you come into your kingdom, Jesus, remember me,”
“I tell you the truth, today in paradise you will surely be.”
I looked; the sun stopped shinning at the sixth hour.
And here I witnessed His awesome power.
The curtain of the temple was torn in two,
The words of this man were coming true,
Jesus called out with a loud voice to say,
“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit,” this day.
I met Jesus in paradise as He said,
There were no scars, nothing to show He had bled.
I only know He kept His promise to me,
And now up in Heaven my soul is set free.
