About This Poem

on the bench

he sits on the bench

      eager pigeons surround him

a bag of breadcrumbs

       is the offering he brings

loneliness is forgotten

This paints a very, emotive and realistic picture. I love the simplicity of a well-written Tanka. This one qualifies, in my mind, as one worth loving. Good luck in the contest.

Ah, Francine...This tugs at my heart-strings!...I am fast approaching 'old man' age and look forward to doing that but I hope it's simply for the pleasure of doing so and not to forget loneliness...Wonderfully done - Tim
