N R There Was An Old Woman

There was an old woman who lived on the streets.
She watched over children making her feel complete.
They ate in soup kitchens some broth without bread.
Their bellies never quite full as they laid down their heads.
Their hard little beds in a room shaped like a 'U'.
In an abandon old building off Le Hamel Au Roux.

She was sent down from above to help these lost kids.
Reasons not totally understood why these children had fled.
At times there were so many she didn't know what to do.
So she gave them her love and protected them from harm too.

She found caring homes for each and everyone in the Village of Firth.
She was only given so much time to serve these children on earth.
She deemed herself well and is now angel worthy of her wings,
Looking down from above she sees all her children now smiling
And they're consumed in what will be rather than what 'twas.
