You were made for laughter,
Painted with the color of the sky.
Loved by the child you once
Embraced, in awe of your azure shine.
Your long slender string once
Adoringly held by tiny hands.
Pulled from a fairy-tale
Into a musty world of hot sand.
Now tugging against the
Rough weeds, a sound lost to every ear,
A fading spark of life.
How in the world did you end up here?
You long for something more,
But you fear your fates already sealed;
A lone blue balloon caught
In the brambles of a desert field.
Abandoned though you were,
The sun engulfing your brilliant shell,
I bid you keep looking
Towards the sky you're destined to sail.
In my heart I know there's
A child pining to laugh and to play.
His best friend is missing.
When he finds him I know what he'll say!
"Oh lone blue balloon caught
In the brambles of a desert field,
Will you be my sword within
The stone that I'm destined to wield?"
