panick

A silent touch, a cold
caress
A familiar result of too
much stress
My chest is tight, my
knees are weak
My body is in imagined
duress

I loved my rest, I loved
my sleep
A pledge 'tween me and
my bed so deep
Now a nightmare just
laying down
The loss renders me too
tired to weep

Why this bother, why this
strain?
What is it with my
overactive brain..?
Tell me please where is
the switch
I need to flip, or I'll go
insane!

I could use the time to
learn new things,
Or draw pictures of
unicorns with wings
I shall do neither of that
I'm sure
A song too violent and
rough my heart still sings

Sleep come sweetly, I'm
waiting for you
You were always there to
pull me through
It feels like a rock is upon
my chest
I need to unplug to
awake anew!
