WHEN THE CHAINS FELL OFF

Most
        do not
                   know
                    nor
comprehend
we
         too
                 were
                 slaves
this
England
             this
                   England
I
was bred
                   a mere
                    pawn
too
in
       empire
                   painted
                   red
when
they
         returned
                       from
that
last
          Great
                      war
enough
is enough
               they
                   swore
victory
        became
                 a victory
of
peace
            as they
                   broke
                   free
the
wind
           of change
               spread
forth
           to
                  multiply
as
empire
             became
                   common
 wealth
