About This Poem
ANDREA
[1955]
Andrea Rae Miller...
was born in Iowa
The same year i fell in love with the Chevy
Gave up lucky's for Kools
Had my first shot of whiskey...
and chased it down with a beer
I was ten...was a very good year
When Andrea was ten...
She was most likely...
running through the meadow...after her cat
or still in love with Mighty Mouse...
she has confessed me that
She then grew up and went to BYU
Became a teacher...and the lovely lady she is today
I in turn...somehow managed to survive
And here we both are...At PoetrySoup
Where i post poetry..."Pushed past the lump in my throat"
While hers rolls so eloquently off her tongue
Yes ...we are friends...unlikely as it may seem
Has forgiven me my tantrums...off color humor...
accepted me as i am...into her heart
If she were just in front of me...in a long long line...
and at the counter concluding her business
I'd still...step out of line...losing my place...
just to follow her out the door...to watch her walk down the street...
I find her that striking!
