THE LONG FALL BACK TO EARTH

THE LONG FALL BACK TO EARTH”
The furious flapping of broken wings
The wasted futility of shattered dreams
The great expectations of soaring high
The diminishing dreams as they fall from the sky
Soaring on the wings of selfish pride
We fly too high, and like Icarus, collide
From the world we try so hard to leave behind
To purge ourselves from all the temperaments of humankind
Take me up to horizons I transcend
Take me down to the earth’s dark edge
Wash the suffering from off my skin
Teach me how to be whole again
Fly me up on silver wings
Above the places where sirens ring
Warm me up in a mercurial glow
And drop me down to my dreams below
To turn away and not become
More abundant than the tears-- so numb A world embracing every predestined heartache
Should I be the one to sacrifice for the sake of fate
After all is said and done I stand alone
Vestige remains of a life I should not own
It takes all I am to continue to believe
In the undeserved benevolence that covered me.

HI kim, another Interesting write from your pen. There are many facets to the human Kim, and hopefully you shall write of them all. The long fall back to Earth. Yes, It Is hard to be filled with Joy and flying one moment and then the next hurtling back to Earth weighed down by sorrow. Sometimes I think the greatest joy Is within ourselves. This joy can sustain us. I do find your writes so Interesting. Have a good day. catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Kim, I have just read about 15 of your poems and stopped to comment on this one, which I have found the best so far. I liked the mythological reference (somewhat of a cliche, though) and the topic. I do see a big thread of personal angst in many of your poems. Hope you work through that. The best poetry, if written for others, is outwardly directed. I also noticed that Scripture often inspires you. That's a very deep well. Good luck and keep up the writing.
