HONESTY

You know me by name not by fame
You remark on my thread like flair
As for you it can be a crying shame
In your quiet room I instigate, dare

Sometimes I pay the costly price
When I pipe up for a jewel thief
Pirate caves never quiet concise
Our eyes meet but don’t debrief

You can sew me to your lip or not
It is hard to live your duty, right
Think of all the times we fought
Then you brushed me out of sight

I’m the pearl on your silver tongue
Stale is the air inside sweet deceit
If your conscience has been wrung
Then I must be lying, at your feet.
